G.K. Chesterton

“The vision is always a fact. It is the reality that is often a fraud. As much as I ever did, and more than I ever did, I believe in Liberalism. But there was a rosy time of innocence when I believed in Liberals. ”

G.K. Chesterton

This is how I feel about conservatism in the United States. I am still a conservative, but I have found it difficult to be a conservative when there are so many horrifically bad examples of what it means to be a conservative. I now find unlikely allies amongst the liberals.

Saturday Morning Free Advice

This advice is free, and you just might get what you pay for. haha..

Anyways, in the last calendar year I did REALLY stinking good in the world of technology stocks. It was hard for me to do, but I just put out the order to sell. bye bye Google, hehehe. Seriously, last year it wasn’t too hard to find good tech stocks, AMD, Google, Apple.

The Crystal Ball Of The Future

It seems that a lot of experts are expecting the dollar to drop, and Gold and Silver to continue its upward trek. International stocks are also expected to be good.

The Future of the Housing Industry

The dramatic rise in real estate has been fueled by cheap and easy credit, and the influx of speculators. The speculators are out of the buying market in most areas of the country and are now trying to sell their properties. Housing inventories are on the rise, and eventually people will need to start lowering the asking price. The need to sell their property will hinge on their ability to pay their mortages. In California, 80% of mortgages are interest only and Adjustable Rate Mortages(ARM’s). These loans are set to adjust to a higher rate this year and next year. Well, I’m starting to ramble on this subject. I’ll just get to my point. I am expecting to see the United States fall into a serious recession just in time for the next presidential election. Of course, Bush will be blamed. Oh yeah, I also expect to see 30-50% drop in housing in California.

In Conclusion

Sell you investment property for whatever you can get for it. Take a loss if you have to, just sell it. Diversify your other holdings to include international stocks and commodities. There is a significant risk of the dollar dropping, so buying international stocks and metals would be an attempt to mitigate that risk. Essentially, this is a good move only if you think that the economy is headed towards bad places.
